If you have decided that you are making the great step into buying a boat, look no further! We are able to offer help and advice on what to buy, how to buy and when to buy!! We have helped over 200 people in the last 4 years purchase their boat and we have even seen several repeat customers already so we must be doing something right!

When looking at your purchase, especially if it is your first boat, several important factors need to be taken into consideration, namely:

a) Budget - This may well be the most important factor for you, not always though!!
b) Useage - Where will you use the boat? What do you intend to get out of it?
c) Who - Who is going to use the boat on a regular basis? How many people do you intend to have as your crew/passengers/friends/guests?
When you have decided the basics as above, you can get on and look for a vessel to fit your needs. Boats are always coming and going so don't rush into any big decisions. If you 'just miss' the boat of your dreams, don't panic, there are plenty out there!

There are several key elements to buying a boat and there are also major benefits from buying through a broker. Buying from a broker will:

i) Ensure that you are not buying a boat that does not meet your needs.
ii) Make sure that all necessary paperwork is completed from title documents to transfer of river licences!
iii) Help the sale go smoothly. All liasing is done by the broker so no difficult phone calls or awkward situations.
iv) Ensure that your money is safe. All reputable brokers, like us, will have a Client Account for exchanged monies. You can buy in confidence and know that your money is safe. Ask the broker if you are not sure!
v) Help you in the whole sale process. Assist you in having a survey, ascertain further information and make sure that all the information is as accurate as possible.

A Sale is broken down into easy steps. Don't rush into buying the first boat you like the look of that fits your requirements. There are many shapes and sizes, view as many boats as you can to get more ideas but no doubt you will return to the first you viewed! You will never buy the right boat first time - guaranteed!

The basic steps to the sale are:

1. View as many boats as you can. Don't be afraid to ask. Any good broker (including ourselves) will show you as many boats as you want to see.
2. When you find the 'right boat' place an offer. We will pass the offer onto the vendor and in many cases get an immediate answer whilst you wait.
3. If and when the offer is accepted, a deposit is required. This is usually 10% unless otherwise agreed. This can be paid by cash, cheque or even debit card in some cases.
4. Paperwork is then drawn up by us, both you and the vendor will be required to sign a Sales Agreement which confirms the offer and acceptance of the basic deal. This may also include the timescale to which the sale should follow.
5. The sale is usually competed within 7 - 14 days of the initial deposit in which time, a Survey and River Trial can take place to ascertain the quality and value of the boat.
6. The final paperwork is completed upon payment of the final balance and the boat, keys & any paperwork included are handed over once funds are clear. A run-through of the boat and its equipment will be given by us and if required a short river trial. This may sometimes however be carried out by the vendor.

We can also assist with other matters such as Insurance, Finance, Transportation, Boat Safety Inspections, Breakdown Assistance and Moorings.

If you have any queries with regards to the sales process, don't be afraid to ask. We are here to help you and make boat buying a pleasurable experience! It will hopefully be the start of a great relationship!
